Carrier Adjustments Policy
Last updated: July 24, 2026
What is a carrier adjustment?
After your package is in the carrier's network, it may be weighed and measured. If the actual weight or dimensions differ from what was declared when you purchased the label, the carrier may charge an adjustment fee. This is standard industry practice for USPS and UPS.
An adjustment means you effectively underpaid for shipping based on what was declared at checkout. The carrier bills Parslo for the difference, and we pass that charge through to you.
Common causes
- Package weighs more than declared
- Dimensions are larger than declared (dimensional weight)
- Incorrect service level or zone
- Non-machinable package characteristics
How Parslo helps prevent adjustments
Parslo uses package presets and item photos to estimate weight and size. You review and confirm these estimates before checkout. We flag low-confidence estimates and ask you to double-check when needed. However, you are ultimately responsible for accurate declarations.
Automatic billing for underpayments
When you complete checkout, you authorize Parslo to save your payment method and charge it for carrier adjustments without requiring another checkout step. At review, you confirm that you understand inaccurate package details may result in additional fees and that you authorize these charges.
When a carrier reports an adjustment:
- Parslo receives a billing notification from our shipping partner
- We match the adjustment to your shipment using the carrier transaction or tracking number
- We automatically charge your saved payment method for the adjustment amount
- Your shipment history is updated with the adjustment details and charge status

Failed adjustment charges
If an automatic charge fails (for example, an expired card or insufficient funds), the adjustment is marked as unpaid in your shipment history. You must update your payment method or contact support to resolve the balance. Unresolved adjustment balances may result in account restrictions until paid.
Disputes
If you believe an adjustment was charged in error, contact us with your tracking number and shipment details. We will help you understand the charge and, where appropriate, assist with a carrier dispute. Carriers make final determinations on adjustment validity.
Before you ship
At checkout, you confirm that package information is accurate and authorize Parslo to charge your saved payment method for carrier adjustments. See our Safety page for required confirmations.
